LITTLE RED HOLIDAY DRESS

Party season is upon us and I’m breaking out this little red dress again (seen the first time here) but this time in a more girly, classic-party way.  Hello red and heels!

I pulled out my trusty metallic pumps (which always get a ton of play this time of year, and for weddings too 😉 ), and feather clutch to pull the look together.  Since they both make a bit of a statement, plus the red is bold, I kept the jewelry minimal, going with a simple bar choker to complete the look.

I know party dressing can be stressful, and if you’re not feeling your best at this time of year, why not highlight something you always feel good about?  We all have one body part where we focus all our negative energy, meanwhile, there’s always that one spot that deserves the love but often doesn’t get it (because you know you’re good there).  For me, I hold my weight in the middle, so if I’ve been indulging in too many treats lately, the last thing I want to do is pull on a skin tight dress and suck it in all night long.  Looser, with a shorter hemline works for me, bonus points if it has sleeves to keep you warm and draw the attention on the legs.

If you’re more pear shaped, or hold your weight in your lower half (totally jealous of your hips, btw!), draw the attention to your upper body by donning a long dress, slightly longer hemline or even a jumpsuit or wear something more open on top.  This is a great time to pull out bodysuits, long sleeve cropped tops, or delicate camisoles.  Try pairing with a knee length skirt or some wide legged trousers to create the best shape for your body.

And when all else fails?  Do the all black thing, but try bringing in a new texture like patent or velvet, or at the very least, try pairing it with a metallic or sparkly shoe–still very festive, but still comfortable to let your worries slide and enjoy your evening.
